Just received an Escort Passport 8500 for X-mas.
I chose the 8500 over the V1 because, like others have stated, for another $100 IMO you don't get another $100 worth of detector with the V1.
Half of the reviews will say the V1 is better and the other half will say the 8500. That leads me to believe that they are pretty darn close to each other in performance.
Another reason I chose the 8500 over the V1 is design. IMO, the V1 design is very clunky and looks like something someone is building in their garage.
