Default Out of the way V1 placement...

Thought I would share this since I like the fact that it is out of the way... Power cable is stuffed along the windshield all the way down to the fuse panel... Old credit card worked great for doing this.

Very slight tint covering Laser eye, but works great. Has saved me several times...

Default stupid question for all you V1 owners

why not just get power from the sunroof controls, seems a lot closer than running the wire all the way around the window.

Default It did it this way because...

I personally did not want to splice into any wiring. Much rather use a fuse tap (the type what looks like a fuse, but has a 90 degree angle and holds the old fuse, plus the new one for the V1). Similar amount of work is involved with either...

I am not sure there is any switched (ACC) power at the sunroof controls either.

There is also a little box (for power and remote display) which comes with the V1 which I am not sure would fit in the limited space where the controls are.

Default Remote V1 shutoff switch below dash

This way, you can shut off the V1 in an "emergency" without having to reach up to the unit above the rearview mirror.

Default Amen. I posted the RMcQ easy V1 hardwire a while back...

Tapping into the existing wiring is easily reversible for you leasers, etc.

https://forums.audiworld.com/allroad/msgs/51033.phtml</a

Default B/C the remote display needs wahrs too :-)

and yes I know this is where your cute little air bag buttons are but it would work as well on the 'cupholder/radio washer' side as well...
