Default P1432 Sec.Air Inj.Valve Open - Help Please

Hey Guys, I'm getting this OBD code. P1432 Sec.Air Inj.Valve Open

I just replaced a secondary water pump. So I had to pull the Intake Manifold in order to do so. I disconnected many electrical connections and coolant tubing in order to do so.

I fired it up. Runs fine. But I'm getting this code now. Not really sure where to start on it.

Has anybody ran into this? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

This involves your SAI PUMP. Have you been getting a jet-engine like sound at (cold)start ups?

Here is a quick thread on how to repair it: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/sho....php?t=1727056 That is, if your state/city mandates an annual/biannual smog test. Some people have the codes for that coded out, remove the pump and install (aftermarket)SAI block off plates..

Here is a better idea of where it is and how to tackle it: http://home.broadpark.no/~sskute/sec...ection_1_2.pdf

Hey thanks. I have to say, I'm not getting any winding noise at all! Runs great. Is there any issue with driving the car with this faulty pump? If there is all these bypass procedures it almost sounds like the whole thing is not required.

I will however need to pass smog tests in the future.

No issues while driving, because it's main purpose is to "inject" air into the Cats at start up. People drive with them off or uninstalled all the time(ie. have them coded out) but if you have to pass smog? best bet is to repair/replace.

Would you happen to know where the solenoid valve is for this pump? Is it on the unit itself?

Ps. Thanks for the help by the way

Solenoid is for the combi valves(directs intake vac. to both combi valves when sec. air injection is on), not the Sec. air pump. The pump has a large two pin connector on the pump. Use a power probe and or any 12V power source and apply it to the pump and see if it comes on. Correct way is to operate it via scan tool output test mode for both the pump and solenoid but not everyone has access to a VAS/VAG scan tool. There is a repair kit from Audi for a new pump and both combi valves but is expensive. Also Audi TSB#2010065/4 for a noisy pump. Better make sure you didn't break the Plastic Vac. T when you did your sec. water pump under the intake.

I think I just may be confused. Some websites show this P1432 code as "Secondary air injection (AIR) valve/solenoid - open circuit"

and others just as "Sec.Air Inj.Valve Open"

So when the code reads "Secondary air injection (AIR) valve/solenoid - open circuit" were still talking just the SAI pump, right?

I checked over everything last night again. All connections look good and nothing is broken.

Also, the actual purpose of the SAI is to inject air into the cats because? What does this do? Warm up the cat? How would having these removed not allow you to pass smog tests is what I'm wondering.
