Default Pirelli Zero Rossas vs. Michelin Pilot Sport A/S

in the few hours that i had someone else's 4.2, i noticed the tires are 245/45/18 pirelli zero rossas. i'm guessing they are good enough summer/rain tires, but i am thinking of pulling them off in favor of the pilot sport a/s's to help with driving in snow (skiing/boarding in the sierras).

i asked the dealer (when he was picking up the car) about switching them, and he said to make sure that any new tires worked with the tire pressure monitor system that i will have on the 4.2. assuming the tire pressure monitor is available on the 2.7t, has anyone had experience with this?

If you are serious...if you are serious about boarding or skiing and don't like to compromise on performance, why compromise with an all-season tire? How important is safety to you? What if I told you there was a tire that could stop you from 60 to zero in the snow in 160 feet versus one that could stop you in 225 feet? Which would you get? If the former, then don't mess around, get real snow tires, that is high performance snow tires, Michelin Arctic Alpin or Bridgestone Blizzaks or the Haakapella from Finland. On the other hand, if you only go up once or twice a season, it may not be worth it to you. Also, do realize that serious Tahoe residents carry chains even if they have a four wheel drive - because there are places and conditions (post ice-storm) that can occur where that is necessary. For the allroad, wire cables will do and can be stashed below the rear cargo area next to the spare wheel. ----
