Default So I guess you'd pay $20000 for a used dealer car rather than $12000 privately for piece of mind too

It's all about the amount.
How much premium are you willing to pay for piece of mind?
I normally don't pay a 2x premium for that. Clearly you do. That's ok.

Default The pricing I'm quoting there is just a cut n paste from the nav site.

Maybe it's dated a bit but it's not that far off.

Default Uber, I spent a huge number of hours reading the nav-plus site and searching AW....

Somehow, I did not see the very helpful navplus forums in all my reading.
Whenever someone asks a question on here the rote answer is to link to the allroad faq. I missed the link in there below the manual pdfs.

There are references everywhere about the nav-plus.com doing AW searches and on eBay so that was where I gleaned my knowledge. That site is where I learned about the eBay RNS-E in the first place. That site talks about eBay and talks about it's own products of which it doesn't show the RNS-E as one of them. I didn't even know of any other resellers at the time of the auction.

I eventually ran across the forums with a google search and have since found the link on your faq site. As I said I'm now getting quotes from the 3 typical resellers.

Default Re: The pricing I'm quoting there is just a cut n paste from the nav site.

Well magnetic GPS antenna's are about 40 not 100+ for example.

I just hate to see a guy burn a bunch of time on something that might not pay off... Thats why I said what I did.

When you get some time jump back over to the allroadfaq and add your allroad to the owners diary section of the forum area.

Default The dealers units are new, typically. Not apples to apples comparing a used unit at 700 to a new

unit at 1400.

Default The reseller units like those on nav forums are used.

True AoA dealers the units are maybe $2500 according to nav-plus.com and that probably includes nothing. I have not verified that, but don't consider that an option.

The resellers units are used but you are getting the piece of mind of them testing it and providing a warranty. You are assured that the harness adapters will work, all parts are included to adapt to your car, etc etc. Thus $1499 shipped compared to $660 (again this was an oddity, most were $800-$1200) is a big premium for that piece of mind. It may be the only decent option though.

Default Sounds about right for current pricing. Availability of C5 units is going down (no longer in....

production) so price will expectedly go up.
