Default What are these MTM Fender Flares I hear of....

they do not look much different than the ar with the GmBH package. Are they just slightly wider to accommodate spacers or what?

Default Thanks. Spacers are from Hartmann...

H&R 20mm DRA bolt on spacers. I didn't have to change the stock wheel studs as the spacers bolt on to the hub, and the wheels bolt on to the spacers. The one thing I had to do was take the rear spacer bolts to a machine shop and have them trim 2mm off. At stock length they were making contact with the axle housing and not allowing the wheels to turn. Not a lot of clearance.

Hartmann was great. I wanted 15's and they talked me into the 20's - said they'd fit (and were right) and said the bolt on spacer was nice (it is.) If you can't spring for wheels and tires, this is definitely a way to go...

Default No issues. Perhaps a tad more tram-lining, but car feels more stable and corners...

noticeably better. In terms of rebound and dampening I've noticed no difference.

I really don't know how much difference there is in terms of engineered force tolerances between my set up and a set of 18 x 8.5 ET 20's which were a factory approved oem option, but I wouldn't put it past someone to calculate the difference on this board ;-) I challenge!

Default I am, and I'm sure they're pricey. But how much difference in load forces is there between...

18x8.5 ET 20 wheels (factory approved) and 17x7.5 ET 25 with 20 mm spacers? Can it really be all that much? That's a real question - not rhetorical.

Default Looks good. Where do you order the spacers? I'd like to do the

same thing. What size tires are you running? They look bigger than the wimpy 225/55s I have

Default Yep. A lot better skiing there, than up here in this Cascade Cement. Weather pattern too

a storm blows through for a couple days then it is clear blue sky for a couple weeks, it was great. That was many years back though.

Up here it's like a blue sky day blows through a couple days a month.

Default I'm no automotive engineer so I cannot tell you...

...precisely, but I've had problems before with other cars when messing around with wheel/tire sizes. Offset (and unsprung weight) were usually affected by the changes.
In at least one instance, the manufacturer refused to warranty the bearings because I had the 1+ package.

It's the price you pay when indulging in things cars and modifications......!

Default Spacers are from Hartmann. Give them a call. Tires are an embarrassment...

They're stock size, but they're off brand because I had to replace them in Utah on a road trip. Big O. They're just fat looking. I also think I'm getting 2-3 mpg worse because of them. One thing that's fun is that they're not very sticky so I get to mess around with a very soft and forgiving traction envelope on freeway ramps!

next set will be Conti's or PS-2's.

I gave details on the spacers further down in this thread. Beautiful pieces well made - I did have to trim 2mm off the spacer bolts on the rears - they were hitting the axle housing.

http://www.hartmannwheels.com/1-425-895-0000/</a
