Question about ESP/ABS when driving in mud...
02 Tip in Drive with Yoke Advan S4 tires, plenty of tread but I do realize these are not for mudding. ESP button pressed so it was "off". Level 4 on the suspension.
I got on some super fine dust/mud this time of year, where the top layer had frozen and then thawed and under the first three or so inches it was hardpan but wet. All four wheels were slipping, duh, but at the same time the ESP was active no matter what the throttle position was.
Can't we slip all four tires without throwing this car in a computer headspin? The more I tried to get the *** end to come around me, the more the ESP would be working. Anyway around this? Can't remember exatcly but I have a good software version for my ESP box so maybe I need an upgrade or something.
Anyone have an experience similar or different they care to share? I have always found the ESP/ABS to be very intrusive in this car, esp the harsh but short bumps up a driveway that turns on the ESP...what's that about.
Wish I had my UrS out there to sling some mud but it wouldn't have made it down the hill to get to the mud. Gotta love the adjustable susp in the allroad!
