Question about a part in 2004 Allroad 4.2
Hi everyone.
Just wondering if anyone can tell me what this part is (for)? It is located on the passenger side of a 2004 Allroad down directly under the SAP. As you can see, it was zip tied to another cable and is NOT connected to anything?
This car is new to me (bought a few months ago) so any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Does it have a electrical connector of some sort?
I have a 2.7t, not a 4.2 and I don't recognize the part. If it isn't connected to anything apart from the zip tie, I would just remove this part. Is anything else not working?

Sorry I didn't get a notification about the response here.
I have 2 codes for secondary air injection (insufficient flow) for both banks. Other than that, I get a whining noise when the car first starts that changes with the revs going up and down. That one could be the SAP itself and I have to do some research on how to test it. I didn't have time that day to dig deeper and took a quick pic to see if someone recognizes the part. Following the cable to see where the other end goes is certainly the way to go. Thank you.
And no part# as far as I could see.

It looks like an electrical connector is attached and the part broke off so someone zip tied it up. If so the wire harness is relatively short which will give you limited proximity to search for its home position. Inspect the side of the nearest engine mount 🤷♂️
