I have an AR with auto dimming mirrors ( came in the premium package I think) and am considering window tint. I wonder if rear window tint will affect the side mirror dimmiing? ie I assume the system sensor is in the rear view mirror, so will the side mirrors still dim enough at night? Anyone who has tinted noticed this? Thanks in advance, <>P

How much would depend on your tint but the single sensor controls all mirrors.

PJD - Havent' noticed the dimmer in rear view or side view mirrors a problem since I've tinted the windows all around.

One is the light hitting the back of the rear view mirror, and the other is the light hitting the front (ie reflective side).

If the light hitting the front is significantly higher than the back, it tints (ie it is dark outside and headlights are shining at you)

I've seen no difference in the functioning of the auto dimming mirrors, since getting the windows tinted with the heaviest tint. The sun here in FlA is terrible. Tint cuts the heat very well too!
