Quick question about fault codes - is this the "top" coolant temp sensor?

17704 - Error in Mapped Cooling System
(check Temp-Sensor and Thermostat)
P1296 - 35-00 -
I scanned a buddy last night after he got the CEL, and this is the big thing I see.
Is this something you need to replace ASAP, or can we wait a few nights? Also, is this surely that temp sensor, or is it perhaps the one on the passenger side lower hose? I have experience changing both, but I'd like to make sure.
Thanks in advance
Bob

...we fixed the issue last night on my friend's allroad. He had the old black sensor, and we replaced it with the new green one. No trouble code has come back.
In addition, when I cleared the codes again for him (after the first time), the code indicated the G62 sensor.
So, spot on advice, thanks very much!
