Default Re: Radar detectors

I have both the V1 and the Escort 8500. I find the V1 is too anoying for anything but the really open road. I seems to pick up way too much in the way of false signals. That being said, on the open road, it is in its element, and works very well. Most of my driving is in the urban or suburban area, and I use the Escort 8500, and I like it. I add the Z3 laser jammer to the system, and it seems to work well also. I owned an older SOLO, and it worked. The only thing I didn't like about it is that it had a habit of dropping its battery door and batteries if the road got rough. (The NE Ohio potholes ensure that this happens quite a bit.) If you don't carry the antitheft key with you, you can not just put the batteries back in. You have to have the key to turn it on. It was a small odd key so I didn't carry it. It cost me one ticket because of that. My brother has the SOLO now.
