Default Was reading the post below about the CEL on. Mine actually just turned

couple of days ago also. How do you know its the torque converter? Does the menu tell you whats wrong if you scroll through it?

Also I checked my oil and there barely anything left. I just changed oil back in May and only driven like 1200 miles to date. Barely any oil left. What the hell! Guess i will try to put more oil in and see if it goes away.

anyone have problem with burning that much oil? Not leaking cause I checked under car and noting and not oil spots in drive way or garage.

Help!

Default need a Vag-Com to see what the causing the CEL

try posting in your local forum to find one. As far as the oil goes, I think that could cause a CEL...

When my engine was leaking at the cam seals most of the oil would burn up before it dripped all the way down, and it would only leak when the engine was running. If any oil did make it all the way down it got caught in the under body skid plate thing. point is, it can be leaky with out it showing up on the garage floor.

Default 2 Qt's in 1200 mi's is not good. You probably have a leak someplace

You need to pull the code for your check light, could be anything.

Default I had autozone do a free scan about 1 mile after the light went on.

That's how I got the code.

The kid that took the code said he's never seen that before, "but it being on an audi, I bet it's expensive". The look on my face may have been a give away too.

Default You're losing oil most probably is cam seals...the oil almost never hits the ground

burns off on the engine and surround....should smell bad especially after a long drive when you get out of the car. Good luck.

Default follow this link

to find someone near you with a vag-com who can scan your car to read what code is causing the check engine light. most people will provide this service for free or for some beer.<ul><li><a href="http://www.steve-hall.com/cgi-bin/VAG-Locator.pl">http://www.steve-hall.com/cgi-bin/VAG-Locator.pl</a</li></ul>

Default Most I've heard of are pretty subtle, therefore hard to trace but they do use a

bunch of oil either way...yours was just the Mr. Obvious version, you were lucky/unlucky?

Default cam seals are up in front of engine correct? I was looking and noticed

some oil behind the fan on some lines.

Is this expensive fix?

Thanks for all the info

Default correct. I had mine replaced when they had the front end apart to do the timing belt.

not sure how much it would be to do on its own. This is probably an instance of several hundred dollars in labor to replace a $20 part.
