Before purchasing an allroad with 3rd row seats I tried to find data on rear crash standards and came up empty (plenty of data on front collisions). Not particularly reassuring. OTOH, how many million SUVs and minivans have 3rd rows just as close to the rear hatch as an allroad and where is the epidemic of deaths and injuries?

Yes, a rooftop box is fairly mandatory because the childseats fill up the rear of the car. I have 4 children and the choice was to either take 2 cars everywhere or get a big SUV, minivan or V70/allroad. Add to the equation the desire to have a car that I wouldn't mind driving and there was actually NO choice. There's not much interior luggage space with 6 people in any of these vehicles.

The kids fight for the rear seats. They're very well proportioned to a 3 to 9 year old's physique. It's also hard to negotiate conflicts back there from the front seat. For safety we load the 3rd row only if the other seats are filled.

My dealer is looking around for Alpaka with 3rd seat, but so far no luck.
Probably I have to get other color..
