Default Rear pinion leak

Well, i took my car to the dealer in november to fix the rear pinion for a leak. They did and it worked fine until last week when I noticed it was starting to drip again. Took it back to the dealer today and they confirmed(no chit). Well their 12 month 12,000 miles warranty does not apply because I did not purchase the OEM(Audi) seal from them, but from Bernardi Audi and I did not istall the flange at that time also which they say is the only way Audi will let them do the pinion seal service. They failed to mention that to me the 1st time. Does the flange ($356 from them or $262 from Bernardi) need to be installed? I was going to get another seal and have my local shop redo their work. Any thoughts?

I think I might repair it myself. Anyone have any reference or experience on this? I seen a few pictures and poked around the area and it seems straight forward.
