Default from wikipedia.org :

"Despite this versatility and generally positive word of mouth from owners and magazine reviews, allroad sales failed expectations in the North American market it was originally designed for, and most of its sales came from Europe, especially its native Germany. Its somewhat high price, lack of market identity in its segment and Audi's ambiguous advertising seem to have been the primary contributing factors; buyers who tend to normally seek either the more car-like look and ride of station wagons or the larger, less ambiguous styling of mid-sized, truck based SUVs tended to reject the Allroad as being too little like either."

Dumb emericans. too little like either cuz it's both.

Has anyone ever surveyed how many AudiWorld forum members have 6spd ?

It would be interesting to see how many crazies there are.

Default I can only base on what I saw with local inventories

But I'd guess 4.2 production wasn't high either. It would be interesting to see production figures across the board.

Default 6MT 3rd row

Cold weather package and also have the twin spokes and cd changer. Pretty much everything but warm weather and Nav.

Default Less than 1 in 20 were stick. Dealers typicaly ordered one that was a stripper

model for the "cheapies". Fully loaded sticks are like hens teeth. When was looking for my 04 in November 03 there were 4 available on the eastcoast, 1 was burgundy loaded w/o nav. Thats the one I bought. It was in VA. I was in PA. I had to order my 02 as the dealer no longer ordered 6spds for stock. That was Oct 01, and they couldn't sell 6spds then. AW is just a very small percentage of Audi owners, and as enthusiasts we tend to congrgate here. So our preferences tend to skew or perceptions. If there was a profitable market for the 6spd it woudl be produced. Even in S4's the 6spd is a very small percentage.

All good points. Our membership is heavily sku'ed to 6speeds, versus the genl population.

Default I agree, but there are still things that are great about the ar and different from the A6 even

(heresy, here I know) without the 6 speed...I still love/hate the multi level suspension and the wheel flares and the stiffer suspension and the just plain old cooler look of the ar over the A6 Avant...it's just a cool car and I think that the only reason they didn't sell well is that no one knew about them...did Audi ever try any marketing?
