Default replacing stock audi symphony head unit

I have the audi symphony tape/cd unit. I want to replace this... is it a standard double din fitting and do you need adapters to wire in other units like a JVC? thanks for help!

I'd call up Crutchfield.
Most of us don't change the head unit however this might help:

Many folks (myself included) have upgraded to the RNS-E. It's a little spendy but integrates perfectly and works very well.

This.
Also, if you have the buttons on the steering wheel you can maintain their functionality more easily with RNS-E
