Default RNS-E or Aftermarket Nav

What are your preferences? Anyone know of/have an aftermarket Navigation system that they really like?

My problem right now is that my RNS-E unit is connected to a Dice IPOD dock is having engine feedback issues. I have the car into the installer twice now and they haven't been able to fix it. They have contacted Dice and Dice has has said that this is a known problem! Dice is currently trying to create a custom piece to correct the issue. Apparently the Dice shares the CD changer connection to the RNS-E and the RNS-E can't differentiate between these two inputs and it overwhelms the system. So unless the Dice hardware fix works I will need to go aftermarket.

In a previous (non-Audi) vehicle I had a Pioneer AVIC-Z1. The unit was pretty good, with one big exception. The IPod interface was terrible. It took so long to scroll through the Artist/Song list that the interface was all but useless, unless I had only a handful of music on the IPod.

So, I am starting the search for aftermarket...

Also, anyone know of a good car audio/video review website?

Thanks!

Default INteresting that DICE cant get it together....

I would get a different adapter not throw out the rnse. Even factory Audi components share the Cd changer input if you have satellite radio so it can be done.

Default one caution with aftermarket...

While it does work, you need a really astute installer who understands Audi and the multitude of interonnects that our system has.

The security system runs through the OEM units. The VAG channels through it as well. People have been known to get phantom codes on other systems when the go aftermarket.

Let's face it..you are having a problem now with the simple DICE unit, you want to go further?

WHy don't you use the internal smart cards for the RNS-E? This would simplify everything.

Default contact me if you are looking for a unit

I have an Alpine IVA W200 that you can add a blackbird too for much cheaper than most other setups.
