The ar is now 3 weeks old. Loving it!!! Need to put some cross member racks on it so I can carry my whitewater kayaks.
I have had Thule racks in the past and been very happy. They only have the black ones for the ar.
Does anyone make a silver verson to match the OEM racks?
Any other rack suggestions for the ar?
Thanks!!

version roof rack system for our Q7 and the colors are very close as well, they are more aero as well. You can get them for the allroad too.

http://www.roofrackshop.com/</a

I THINK the OE cross bars are actually made by Thule.
I have the Thule HullaPort J holders. They are brushed aluminum in color, and basically match the roof rails and cross bars. Of course, the Hullaports include a pad with a black nylon covering. You don't want your kayak to grind against bare rails. And the clamps that grip the cross bars are coated with black vinyl paint.

my rack is 10 yrs old and beat to hell, but I don't think it detracts from the overall sharp look of the car. I like being able to just throw stuff on the cross bars without worrying about scratching them.

SRSLY... I thought about doing this when I was in the market for a rack (I later found a complete setup on Craigslist so I didn't have to go this route). The thought of spending $80 for two bars of mild steel was pretty painful.
So, if you get some Yakima lowrider feet (these fit our roofracks), you could, vice buying bars from Yakima, just pick up some round stainless tubing whose outer dimension and wall thickness were appropriate.
If you want the OD and wall thickness, I'm happy to slap some calipers on my rig - just LMK.

What size of bars do you have 47" or 53" or ??
When I run the Thule configurator it only recommends the 50" black bars.
Thanks
