Are Rotors covered by 4yr/50K Factory Maintenance
Are rotors covered under factory warranty and maintenance? Today, the dealer called saying the brake pads are worn down so much they have damaged the rear brake rotors. The dealer wants to replace the brake pads for free but charge $300 (parts and labor) to replace the rear brake rotors due to negligence. Any advise?

Negligence? I'd ask the dealer why they didn't notice the pads needing replacement ...
... (relatively soon) during your previous service visit.
Were the brakes making noise or anything before you took it in?

unfortunatly...
01-03 only covered rotrs for maint. But once gouged, they are deemed abused and no longer under any maint or warranty. For 04+ the rotors were totally excluded.
However, if you have an 01-03, then call AoA customer care and tell them the story, siting the miles, and maint history of the allroad. Perhaps they will help.
FWIW, your could tell the dealer to just put on the pads and then have you own rotors (ECS, Blauparts, Shokan, etc.) installed by a local garage. 100.00 for the rotors, 50.00 for the labor.

if you had the last service done within 10k miles
it would be the responsibilty of the dealer who did the last service if the pads got so low they touched the rotors (warping not covered at all. (It is the customers responsibilty to bring in before metal to metal but the dealers responsible to inform if brakes will not make to next service)

Re: Negligence? I'd ask the dealer why they didn't notice the pads needing replacement ...
The last dealer service was 3000 miles ago. I want to say I did near a noise for the past month. But I could not determine whether it was the brakes or not... the noise seemed to also occur when I was not braking. All during this time, the ABS, and suspension lights displayed intermittently. I reported this to the dealer last year, but the dealer would not diagnose the problem until I drove the car in with the lights on, which did not occur until last week.
