Default Seat heater melted seat!

The seat heater on the driver's side of my Allroad melted a hole right through the leather. I smelled something burning, and it wasn't until after I got out of the vehicle that I saw the hole. I've read about this happening to others; however, my car is no longer under warranty. Any suggestions on what to do? It seems like a serious safety hazard.

Default My A4 did the same thing less than a year after warranty expired...

the dealer, Audi, and I split the cost three ways. I was happy with that! When you talk to them, make sure to talk about the safety issue. My dealer took care of contacting Audi also.

Default Do a claim to audi or ask the dealer to do one on your behalf.

This is a known VW/audi (safety) issue, for the passats existed a recall.
In my case the dealer did the claim, audi said OK and they fixed my seat even if the car was out of warranty - thank you, audi!

Default Mine did it this winter too....burned my coat.

They will pay...it's strict liability. Anyone that splits it got bent over.

Default yes... call AoA customer care at once...

this is more than out of warranty, its a liability problem. They have been known to just repair it regardless of warranty. but you have to call directly to start the process...be firm, scared for your family, but polite.

Default Same thing happened to my car last week

Good advice - I plan to call AoA customer care as well as the local dealership. No burn on my jacket, though, just the seat.

Anyone have the AoA customer care # handy?

Tell them you've got a burn on your *** and ask them if they want to see it...

Default Mine was out of warranty and I got it replaced...

by calling AOA and they set me up with a local dealer. If you are in NYC, DON'T GO TO ZUMBACH Audi!! They removed my Nav to get to the heater controls and when I got the car back the Hav was not working. I brought it back and they said they fixed it, yeah right! I removed the Nav and a few wires were ripped out of the harness!

They only replace the leather, not the whole seat.
