at about 7400 mi my service car now msg came on. Shortly after that the check engine light came on. So I called and made an appt at Rector. The service advisor tells me "oh, actually you don't have to have the car serviced until 10k. You can just reset the msg lights." I'm like "Oh really??? So the car's diagnostic brain is wrong and I can just ignore it?" The answer was basically yes.
I'm more than a little befuddled (and miffed) at this. It's a pretty lame and obvious attempt at avoiding giving me the INCLUDED servicing that I paid for when I purchased the car. SA basically stated that they'd do the 10 service early.
So does this mean that at 28k after my car has told me for the fourth time to get it serviced, that Aoa will no longer pay for the supposedly free service even though I'm under 50k and under 4 years?

I have paid for the in between services (5 to 6k), right now at 26k and service message read (service in 7600miles) Just a little Over. I think that when I have the mid service done they reset the clock.

I use Mobil 1 0 - 40W and change oil and filter at 7500 miles and paid the upcharge, then I did the oil change @ 17.5K same deal.
Service manager says Mobil 1 OK for 10K in his personal non Audi authorized opinion says change @ 7500 if using non syn oil.
Suggest, as in strong recommendation that I at least used semi-syn. But its a turbo, so I went with full Mobil1 Syn -- which is what all the Porches use.
Better safe than sorry and the cost is NOT THAT outrageous.

I'm going to buy some there rather than let the $tealer charge me almost 10 bucks a quart.
Capacity is what, 7.3 quarts? That $28 vs $90 that the $tealer was going to charge me.
