Default Short antenna?

The Audi car cover for the allroad has little sleeve for the antenna but the sleeve is too short for the stock antnenna. I am thinking of getting a shorter antenna (I seem to recall that there is a Honda S2000 part that fits) but am worried about the effect on radio reception.

So I have two questions for those who have fitted shorter anntenas: Which antenna do you have and how is your reception when compared to the stock antenna.

Default Re: Short antenna?

I got an antenna off of ebay for about twenty dollars. There are two brands JOM and INXX that are german made and readily available on ebay and other sites. It is important to remember that the thread size on our cars is different than the passat jetta etc. Ours is 1mm bigger. the Honda s2000 thread size is to small and will not work.(I tried) The person that I got my antenna from on Ebay will send you an adapter thread that will work with our car.(most places will) Its easier if you specify that you want it to work on a TT (they are more familiar with that car) below is a link to the one that I got. This person has other styles that you mey prefer. BTW the TT antenna works but it is designed as a cell entenna and compromises reception a little more than the regular antennas and the base does not blend with the base of our antennas very well (I tried) I have not noticed any usable/noticable difference in reception quality with the new one that I have got.

P.S. The above info is valid for my 2001 ar and the corresponding antenna base on my vehicle.no bose, no nav, no integrated cellphone install.

Good Luck

Default There's no am recption even with the stock one. so whats to loose.

I take mine off when I have the box on and the FM still work like normal. So I would guess any wire on the roof would work.
