Silly question - Allroad handling vs. an A6 4.2 or B5 A4 (looking for a reference)

Sorry for the comparison. I'm looking for a 2001 / 2002 Allroad and have yet to have the chance to test drive one. I drove a 4.2 (loaner - can you believe it) awhile back and I remember it well. I currently have a B5 A4 1.8T quattro with the sport package (16" wheels).
Comments anyone? I envision the Allroad to be "softer" than my A4 but I don't know by how much...

H-sports, 402 mod, and better tires all help make it handle better, but nothing will make it as nimble as your current car.
This is why I kept my K04'd '99 a4 avant as a backup

Felt every bump in the road. Crisper handling than ar but would wear me out after a couple hundred miles.

I used to have a B5 A4 Avant 1.8T with the sport package and 17" wheels (RS4 type). Much sportier than my current AR 4.2. There's no denying the physics: the A4 was lower, lighter, and tighter. But the AR is a much better urban assault vehicle and road trip car. Since the AR is not my "sporty" car (I have a GTI for that), I much prefer the AR to the A4.
