Saw a rear ended b5 a4 sedan last night. Car lost its rear, passengers where fine and the car did what it was suppose to, protect the passengers. But it made me think of our kids, our two 70lbs dogs, riding in the back and a rear end collision. I tend to not use the cargo shade screen thing, our dogs tend to say in the back area. So I was curious what other aw ar people do?

We put the rear seat up and the cargo net up. Dogs ride in the cargo area, sometimes in a crate. Kids ride in a child-safe seat, belted in.

He is a true car dog. (photos to follow). When not in the Sherpa he will lie on the seat.
We tried the rear with a cage or a bed, but it moves around too much and we can't get to him. As long as he is willing to lie on the seat we are good. We may opt for a "seat harness" as he goes to work with my wife and I every day.

as he can't settle down on the middle seat due to the leather, slides around, even w/ a blanket. in our scooby he rides in the middle seat, cloth seats.

he got rear ended, a few months ago. Fortunately, he had just dropped off his in-laws who were sitting in the 3rd row seats. After the accident, the 3rd row seat was pushed up almost against the first row. Granted, he was hit pretty hard but if his inlaws were back there, good chance they would have been killed. The passengers in the 2nd row wouldn't have faired well either. This prompted him to get a vehicle with no 3rd row seating. An now he's a bit overly paranoid when driving.
The driver who struck him was talking on the phone and didn't notice that the traffic came to a halt on the freeway. Oddly enough, he walked away from the accident without a scratch. My friend is OK too, just shaken up a bit.
Just thought I'd share...

the wet steam vac works, but not super practical for everyday use. I do our ar maybe twice a year with it. Rubber factory mats help too. But our ar can look like is has a **** interior. We have a bistle(sp?) green machine, little portable steam vac. Our house vac has this rotary hand attachment, don't remember the brand of vac though.
