Default Sound system

More questions, can i change the head unit to some other brand stereo, like alpine? And is it easy to install new audio wiring and speakers?
I know that BOSE is good, but i have a very good set of infinity/boston acoustics/ audiobahn speakers and goodies, and don't want it to slack.

Default Going on VW knowledge here.

Your head unit feeds an amp. The amp powers the speakers. Your head unit is the same as cars without the Bose system so the head unit is feeding it a FULL signal. So, you can replace the head unit but will get ALMOST the same product. You can rewire everything and put in new speakers while you're at it. It's a PITA though.
