Hi all,

Contemplating an allroad purchase but like most people on the planet I think the lack of steering wheel buttons was a colossal disaster.

So the question is can the steering wheel be swapped with something older or newer? What modules have to be swapped with the steering wheel to make it compatible?

Anyone done it?

If you are looking for transmission shift buttons, which indeed are missing on the Allroad, then find one with a manual transmission

Alternatively the RS6 came with buttons on the sterring wheel for shifting. I believe other have done that swap.

Try to search in the C5 section.

I'm still trying to figure out what buttons I'm missing on my A4 Allroad.

What transmission shift buttons? I have shift paddles if that's what you're referring to. Otherwise I have no idea. I mean I'd look at an RS6 if there was one anywhere near where I live. I've only ever seen one in person, and that was driving the opposite direction on the freeway.

I was referring to the stupid Haptic pads and the lack of real buttons.

This subforum is for the C5-chassis allroad, hence the confusion above. Not sure why this subforum hasn't been categorized accordingly.

To my knowledge no allroad models use the latest generation steering wheel with haptic controls. I have only seen that wheel in the Q4 and newly-debuted Q6. The controls are haptic but I believe also feature a 'press' capability.

If you think you are 'missing' buttons I would suggest posting in the B9 forum with a picture and the PR build codes for your vehicle. Someone can then tell you if other options included additional buttons.

Thanks for that info. I kind of thought it might be the case that this forum is for a different or older chassis.

Thank you for the advice, but I thing you misunderstood my post. Sorry, my bad for phasing it poorly. I was basically sarcastically saying that I have all of the expected buttons on my steering wheel. What more could the OP be asking for?

Does anyone know the secrets to swapping my Canadian '03 Allroad's non-heated, non-paddle-shift steering wheel to one that has both of those features?
The existing wheel is shown.
What specific year & region of Allroad or RS6 wheel do I need and what would be required for adaptations?
