In the past week, it's been pretty cold here in Denver. Every morning, in the first 5 minutes of my commute the tire pressure sensor will go off. The warning symbol I get indicates that it can't identify the wheels.
Anyone know the fix for this...other than turning off the TPM?

...I'm guessing I have a bad unit or dead batteries. I haven't had a chance to look at it any closer. I just shut it off for now.

And maybe it would be that easy if you were speaking from experience. That's not remotely what's wrong. The TPM tells you if the pressures deviate from the tire pressure that you set as a reference point. So I could conceivably set them at 15 lbs and it should be happy. As I said, mine is giving the error message that it isn't able to even determine the tire pressures. So I can't even 'store' the current tire pressures.
So to recap - the tire pressures are set correctly. It's giving me a tire symbol with a slash through it...which according to the owners manual means that it is unable to read the current tire pressures.
Has anyone had this happen before? What did the dealer do to fix it?

My solution? I bought new wheels. That damn TPM system is a piece of crap. It never worked....ever. In fact I drove for about fifty miles on a flat tire, and the system didn't warn me at all.

Checked codes this evening. Had two codes: 1469 and 1470....both rear tire sensor failures..intermittant. I cleared the codes and checked the measuring blocks.
Both sensors were transmitting fine, batteries were both showing around 48 months left.
I could check the antenna's but I'm not going to replace them if they are damaged, system just doesn't offer me enough to justify it.
So in the end, no idea? I cleared the codes and turned the system back on. If the past is any indication I should have the faults again before Thanksgiving.

But the error display will show a slightly different symbol. There well be a downward zagging arrow next to the tire symbol. That means there's RF interferance.
