not there beforehand. Is there any credence that the type of oil, ambient temps might be causing some gasket shrinkage (regularly hitting 0 degrees F each night)? Had also read this as possibility over on b5s4 forum. FWIW, been using only mobil 1 0w40.

There are several differences in the engines after 02, and I have never paid attention to this concern on any later ones yet.

...the bend in the y-pipe at the back of the intake manifold.
Easiest way to find it is to locate the large-ish vacuum line poking through the firewall (coming from the brake booster). Trace that to below the y-pipe...there's your suction pump.
Again, this is only on the auto/tips.
