Default That didn't take long. Wiped finger at rear corners, came up w/ some slight sludge. Was definitely

not there beforehand. Is there any credence that the type of oil, ambient temps might be causing some gasket shrinkage (regularly hitting 0 degrees F each night)? Had also read this as possibility over on b5s4 forum. FWIW, been using only mobil 1 0w40.

In any case, will keep tracking, probably fold this into TB change which is due shortly.

Default 02 and earlier MT don't have a suction pump. I'm not sure about 03 and up

There are several differences in the engines after 02, and I have never paid attention to this concern on any later ones yet.

Default thanx for the confirmation.

when glancing in there last night, think i saw where it would be. y-pipe definitely gets in the way of easy access.

Default On the auto's it's right below the.........

...the bend in the y-pipe at the back of the intake manifold.

Easiest way to find it is to locate the large-ish vacuum line poking through the firewall (coming from the brake booster). Trace that to below the y-pipe...there's your suction pump.

Again, this is only on the auto/tips.
