Default Suspension level control module anyone?

Big suprise. I'm having problems with my AR air suspension!

Last week the rear went completely down and the front appears to be all the way up. The warning light is on in the cluster and the "low" setting light is flashing on the manual controls. The controls will take the car in and out of jack mode but will not accept any other command.

I purchased the ROSS VAG-COM and ran codes. Address 34 comes up as control module malfunctioning - code 65535. The manual states the code cannot be cleared using the 1551 scan tool. I tried clearing it, it just returns.

Any suggestions before I spend +$700 for a new module? Anyone have a spare they're willing to loan (so I can verify the problem) or sell?

Thanks,

EAH

BTW- I have searched here and audiforums.com. This does not appear to be a very common failure.

Default The code you report is the hard CODING i.e. programing , not a failure code

There is only one coding for the Suspension module. You need to scan fault codes and tell us what it says. And VagCOM can recode the module, only the correct code will be accepted. If you attempt to code the module more than 3 times it will lock out and may need to be unplugged for up to 3 days, to drain down before it will allow another attempt. But there is only one coding so this shouldn't be a problem. It's possible the control head is bad, I have seen this. You may need to run an output state test as well, to check the hardware for faults.

Thanks for the response. I'm new to using the VAG-com. Mind giving me a few pointers?

Here is the info from the scan. After this scan I erased the DTC's and ran it again. Same info on 2nd scan.

Address 34: Level Control Labels: 4Z7-907-553.lbl
Part No: 4Z7 907 553 B
Component: - 2C1A1 X031
Coding: 25500
Shop #: WSC 22164

1 Fault Found:
65535 - Internal Control Module Memory Error
00-00 - -

Thanks.

Default Ah the infamous memory error, unfortunately this means it's toast

I made a mistake in my first post, I forgot about the dead code. Your hard coding is the 25500 number and will need to be set when you install a new module. I would remove the module and allow it to sit for a day a or two reinstall and run scan. If the 65535 comes back it's not salvageable, you'll need a module.

Default Mine didn't cost $700 they are all rebuilt these days and mine wasn't $500, I got it

from genuineaudiparts.com when Craig was there (he left), but you might call Carson at Riverside Audi and see what kind of deal he can give you...remember that you will have to run the adaptation with VAG once you get the new one in and be very careful and patient (search here for the directions for 402 mod as they are the same) and make sure you go to number 5 to save once you have all four corners set...good luck.
