Alright, I am getting very frustrated with these suspension problems I have been having. On both of my 2001 AR's, I am having problems. On my manual one, the car won't even go up to level one. The compressor turns on, but then it just shuts off. Now when I turn it on, it doesn't even budge, and I am hoping it is just a fuse, but it probably isn't... The other one is very inconsistent. It goes up eventually, but very slowly. The little yellow car pops up on the dash and you have to turn the car off and back on, then it goes up slooooowly. If anyone has suggestions on what to check first, that would be much appreciated. Thanks all.

Scan for codes first and post results.
Could be relay for the compressor that causes it to run and then stop or a bad overheating comressor. When the one that does raise finally raises, does it hold an function correctly but just slow to raise? Is the compressor loud?

Loud slow compressor means bad compressor usually. Visit Arnott and order a new one. The Mercedes CLS compressor they sell is also the same as the allroad one and it is a lot cheaper. There might be a 10% coupon floating around the web still for them.

I talked to my parts guy and found oem compressors for around $250, but thanks very much again! And I will try to get to the audi dealer to get the codes because I thought you meant from my personal little computer, but I would have to get the dealer scanner I believe. Also, the allroad I haven't had a lot of trouble with got up to level four and stood there the whole night, so I am a little perplexed...

Every allroad owner should invest in a Ross Tech VAGCOM scanner. A lot of used ones float around for cheaper since we dont need the CAN funtions (KII-USB and Key-USB work great)
The airbags can be solid at some levels yet leak at others. Level 4 is the least likely to leak usually. L2 and L1 are more likely, so try letting them sit overnight on either of those.
Maybe you can find an indy or someone local with a RossTech cable to scan for you.
