Suspension warning light

Suspension warning light
Hi
I am a proud new owner of a 2.5TDi allroad and having had it less than a week I have noticed the suspension warning light [in the instrument panel] coming on for extended periods- not flashing but will just stay on. Next time I start up the car it may not be on. It does not seem to necessarily coincide with having changed the ride height on any trip either.
Any ideas?

Is this the same light that goes on when you lock the suspension? Try this...
...lock the suspension into jack mode (press and hold both the up and down buttons for ~5 seconds). All sorts of things (the height lights, the light on the Tach) will light up. Then do it again, unlocking the suspension. If the suspension doesn't lock and unlock, then there could be more of a problem than just a confused computer. HPH

Thanks I will give it a try. What actually happens when you put it in "jack mode" at which level does it sit?

What happens in jack mode...
...isn't completely clear. There doesn't seem to be any adjusting of the height, at least that I can tell. And it doesn't really "lock" the suspension, at least not in the position it's in.
I expect that it does 2 things: (i) turns off the leveling/adjustment computer so it won't get confused and (ii) does something to limit the travel on the springs, so that, even though they stretch when you jack the car up, they don't stretch as much as they might otherwise. HPH

The car should not do this...
I've never had the suspension warning light come on. This seems to be a factory defect. I recommend taking it to the dealer for repair as soon as possible.
