Default The TCM swap really works!

Had my 01 AR tip in for 20K service today, and complained about the vibration/jerk at 45 MPH, and the throttle lag. Dealer replaced the TCM (transmission control module) with one that has new programming. IMHO it really makes a difference with throttle and transmission response at all speeds becoming crisper and faster. And the vibration/jerk is gone. Your dealer should know about this becuase of a TSM issued.

Don't you just love computers? It is amazing to me how well we can control hydro-mechanical devices now.

Default New TCM didn't fix wobble in mine, just changed it. It seems to get worse over time.

Give it a few thousand miles and let me know if wobble stays "fixed".
Have you noticed a change in how the trans. shifts? A difference in the point that it shifts from 1st - 2nd, 2nd - 3rd?

Default Any idea what the TSM number is?

My dealer doesn't seem to have a clue about how to fix this problem. Even if it is a temporary fix, a little smoothness is better than none at all.

Default See if lasts over time

Because my wobble was all gone, then about 2 weeks later it started again. Gradually at first, now is seems worst than it was before, but it is not terribly bad. Now that the dealer replaced TCM, they won't do anymore, even though it continues to wobble.

So what is your next step? Are you going to pursue with Audi directly?

Default I hate to ask....

But, what tires to you have? Additionally, what tires do the others (i.e. - Skitown and cih) have?

I know we have badgered this topic to death, but I have a screwy theory that I might release later.

Default Goodyear & Bridgestone S-03 w/ standard wheels, Blizzak w/ 16" ATP, service even tried

swapping a new set of wheels & tires, which I think were Goodyears on standard wheels. None of which have had any effect on the wobble.
But I'd love to hear your theory. It might even help Audi with their theory. Seems all they have at this point - a theory.
