Default Temp Gauge Creeping Up after car is off

It's been as hot as it gets here in Tahoe this past week, low 90's. Sorry Bay Area folks, I know.

If I spend some time driving, not to spirited even, and stop and park for a few minutes, when I come back and restart the temp guage will be one click past center to H.

Anything to be concerned with, or maybe one of the senders need replacing. We are not used to this heat at 6000 feet so just curious for other experiences in hot climates.

No need for rants regarding that particular gauge, as we all know.

Replaced green coolant sensor ( top of motor don't remember number right now) two months back, so can probably elimnate that finike 6 dollar boy.

TIA

Default happens down in Auburn too - normal ... ~100°F here at 1300ft.

after restarting and about 30 seconds of idling the car will be back to center.

Default normal. when the car is off, there is no after-run pump to keep the coolant

circulating through the radiator (or to keep the fan on to keep air blowing over the radiator).

So, your temp guage is being accurate, the coolant temp is rising as it continues to pull heat from the engine block, but it isn't being cooled.

If you are really concerned I seem to remember some aftermarket solutions to keep the fan on after you shut the car down.

Default ^^^^ AWESOME FIND ^^^^ I learned something new today. THANKS!

Since I never hear mine, I just figured it didn't have an after run system. So it has one, but it doesn't turn on.

I will definately add this mod to my to do list.
