Default My buddy has a westie syncro that's awesome. For recreation or everyday hauling?

I wouldn't want one for everyday use but it's awesome for weekends and mountain biking or a day on the beach. I had no Idea the were worth so much money either. If you need a minivan get an Odyssey

Trust me I have worked on these my whole life and I wouldn't touch anything short of a 2000 Eurovan. (I am actually looking for Eurovan myself) Vanagon was underpowered and under braked & had a crapy old water boxer with head gasket problems & a rough idle. The VR6 Eurovan is a nice car . In 2000 the 24v VR6 was introduced and it has nice power . The early 5 cyl Eurovans were a little flat on power and the auto trans had poor shift quality. The early VW 4 speed automatics left a lot to be desired as well . Big steps between gears and the torque converter lock up felt like a strange clunk after the last gear change . NOT anything I want. You will find old die hard Vanagon fans telling you they are great . These people are not to be trusted. Just smile, nod and slowly walk away :-) These people probably have an old volvo 245 & think it was the best car ever.

Default Hard to beat a Honda Odyssey (Nomex suit on)..

it runs an older Acura V6 platform 240hp engine that moves it pretty well. All the toys, ergonomics are great, dependable, decent gas mileage,(18/25mpg on 87 octane) great resale value.

Default Unzip that suit. Odyssey is hands down the best minivan ever made and

even my tough-guy older brother admits that the minivan is the best kid hauler ever made. No shame in function over form.

BTW, the Sienna is a very close second and available in awd.

Default Anyone seen that video of the VW bus with the Porsche internals on the track? Killer!

Can't find it right now since work filters YouTube. But it's worth looking for. He passes everybody in a goddamned VW bus.
