Default for those familar w/ fuel tank recall ...

question -- post fix, the allroad is making an odd noise on spirited takeoffs -- it almost sounds like something "rolling around" either in the console or under the back seat.

I cleaned out the console, glove box and cargo area to make sure it wasn't anything related to "unsecured cargo".

Ultimately it's the dealer's problem to fix, but any inital thoughts on what might not have been buttoned up properly?

Man, I've heard a few problems related to the recall now, makes me not want to take mine in.

Default I haven't gone in yet, but I have the same noise. I pulled the back. . .

seat last week to see what if something was loose. Nothing there. My current theory is rear subframe. I'll check the torque on fasteners this weekend.

Default My recall work show's no noises...BUT, I too had a wierd noise

coming from under the passanger seat on turns, takeoffs etc. After some hard searching, I stuck my hand into the rear floor vent under that seat and pulled out a 'few' small items from my kids....it's pretty easy to get stuff into those vents...I'd look there too...that cured my noises...

Worth a shot to see if anythin is in there.

Default Re: Recall on tank

I had mine in the dealership for it's 25-35,000 mile service along with the recall work. When I got it out I listened for new sounds. Anything I was used to before only stood out louder than before I took it in.

The only noise I now hear is a tapping at low idle that comes and goes and may be a valve or water pump/cooling/heating pump starting to go out. Not sure which yet. I need to lift the hood and listen from in front of the engine.

Default more reason's why I'm not doing the recall.

If it isn't broken...

I know short sighted, but the ar is getting senior status and I like to keep her in one piece.

Default I used a vacuum + crevice tool to remove the crayons & markers from that vent

they were way up in there, and rolling around with every right-left turn.

Default What the heck were they messing with in the front cabin?

The tank is in the back.
