Those that have done a custom exhaust what muffler if any did you go with?

Those that have done a custom exhaust what muffler if any did you go with?
2 1/2" pipe or 3"?
I was going to go with 2 1/2" minus the resonators, minus the mufflers to start with
?
If it is too loud I will be looking for some mufflers, no ricey coffee can mufflers.
Ideas?

Great idea! start with nothing then tone it down...........................
From what I've read ideal you don't want any restriction after a turbocharger. As far as sounding "ricer" that's all a matter of the listener. I'd love to hear a dual straight exhausted 2.7tt. With the turbos in the line it has to sound awesome up around 5k rpm.

My local muffler place said they could remove my muflers for under $100, in 45 mintues.
keeping the orignal tips...
And they offered to do it right then.... I almost took them up on it, but I'm waiting to hear some sound clips first...

I just did mine and it was well worth it....
Dual 2.5" piping all the way back to magnaflows and some sexy tips.
Sound is great, the car feels stronger and I am very happy.
It has a nice low rumble and it gets louder up to about 2500 then the turbos quiet things down. No drone in the car just a clean euro sound.
I actually heard mine next to a few other options last night at the Hartford GTG. I was next to 2 2.7T A6's with the RS6 exhaust and there was much more of a drone sound on theirs. They sounded great, especially as they drove away but at idle I liked mine better for sure.
