Default

if you pushed it to one side - would there be any room to mount a bike rack?

Default if the bars were wide enough......sure. I went with a fairly narrow setup, 48" I think.............

still might be able to do it but not guaranteed.

Default There is. You may need to take the pedals off the bike though...

just to ensure adequate clearance from the side of the box. I saw an A4 with the Evo 1600 and a bike mounted next to it. I just haven't tried it myself yet.

Default How about Yakima Loadranger?

Does it have to be a Thule? I just picked up a Yakima Loadranger 17 3 weeks ago - I'm using Thule crossbars, and the Loadanger fits perfectly - clears the antenna by 1". It'll fit 200 cm skis, and would be wide enough to fit boards as well...

Just another option! Sorry, no pics to post, but there's the link to the Yakima page...

Gordon

Thule Evo 1200 mounted on Audi crossbars, which I believe are shorter than std Yakima or Thule crossbars). Box is mounted on passenger side, with the rightmost set of box retaining U-bolts mounted outboard of crossbar feet -- clears roof antenna and hatch and provides enough room for sailboards or bike mount on driver side of crossbars. Because Thule or Yakima crossbars are longer than Audi's, you will probably have more space to mount at least 2 bikes in addition to the box, but one bike may have to be mounted outboard of the driver's side crossbar feet. Alternatively, 2 bikes may fit inboard of the feet, if you mount one front to back, and the other back to front. Also, you may have to remove the pedals.

Default tailed you today in my AR ...

down Portola from O'Shanunessey to Claremont. your existing crossbars will easily fit Thule Evo 1200 & 1600, plus bike or snowboard attachments. Also, your AR is too clean to be Tahoe commuter.

Default Mine just opens on the passenger side...

hinge is on the driver's side. I'm not sure if it can be ordered with the hinge on the other side.
