Default time for tires - same old questions - current opinions needed.

so,
i'm looking to get some tires. i had hoped to wait long enough to be in position to pick up some oem or rep RS6's, but alas, the wear bars are showing and there is even a glimpse of radial (i know, this is really bad form). anyways. tire opinions are now needed.

here are my priorities for a tire...
1 - low road noise
2 - handling/grip
3 - good in the rain
4 - ride quality - i don't mind bumps, but hate tramlining

i've been looking at the kumho ecsta asx's and the yoko advan s.4.'s opinions on each? also, is there some miracle tire that i might be missing? thanks. j

Default On my third set of Falken Ziex

Great tire that fill all the priorities and a great price. $95/ea from Discount Tires (and free shipping)

Default Falkens yes but (IMHO) not the 912, the 512....

I've had three sets of the 512 and love them. The 912 was terrible in 1/2 inch of snow. Discount tire agreed to a full return after 10K miles of use. I bought another set of the Falken Ziex 512.

I vote for Goodyear F1 A/S. Meets all your criteria and I have a set myself.

Some time this summer I will be making a purchase and am thinking the Toyo Advan 4S, Goodyear F1 A/S or Bridgestone 960's AS.

Tire rack rates these the highest. Consumer Report rates some other tires higher.

Default I vote no Falkens. I had some with belt pull, and the replacements under wtty also

pulled. Quality issues, IMHO. I see more of these around town wearing Michelins, probably a good but much more expensive choice.

Default Nokian WR-GT's

new tire from Noke. Been driving the old WR's for a while. They do everyththing really well including deep snow. The WR-GT's look even better. As far as I'm concerned they are the best tire for any quattro that will ever see some snow.

Default Second on the old style WR we use for winter, a really nice but more $ tire compromised

only by a bit more noise than an all season not similarly rated for extreme snow conditions (WR carries the alpine mountain symbol). If you live in the snow belt and want one tires set, this is it.
