Timing Belt - Cam Bar install pushes mark past TDC

I'm doing the timing belt job and everything going well, put the crankshaft pulley around to TDC. Then I tried to install the (rented) cam lock bar, but it will only fit over the cams when the pulley mark is pushed past TDC about 2mm. (Tried upsidedown, etc...)
So the question is - can I just make a new mark and make sure at the end of the day (my 720 deg rotation) the mark is still 2mm past or do I need to get a new cam lock bar/just mark and do without the bar?
[Belt is still on.]
