Default Timing belt/water pump service -- need info

I was going to do the timing belt service myself, but really no longer have the time. So I need to send it someplace.

At independent shops familiar with Audi, how much labor should you expect with this service (timing & accessory belts, tensioners and idlers, damper, water pump, thermostat and flush, cam seals)

From what I've read in forums, it seems like it take 3-4, maybe 5 hours. Is that right?

Interestingly, I just had a shop tell me that it would take 15 hours. I've done enough work on cars to know that it ridiculous, but what is reasonable labor?

Default Like they said on AWMA - Convenience Car Care seems to be good. I personally like Foreign Service

Auto in Tyson's Corner, which is local to me.

Default Not really very impressed with Convenience Car Care

I really can't deal with all the attitude, and the cost isn't much different than the dealer. If I want cost and attitude I might as well go to the dealer.

But to get back to the issue of this thread, how long should it take to do a full timing belt/ accessory belt/water pump/seals service? What is reasonable?

Default Not sure about hours, but somewhere around $1k-$1,200 is about reasonable. I'd suggest calling

Foreign Service Auto in Tyson's (703-448-4800) and ask for Mike Ragsdale. Tell him Eric with the silver S4 suggested him.

Default I would charge 6 hours without chain tensioner gaskets. With v/c gaskets, cam plugs

Chain tensioner gaskets & rear cam seal I charge 11 hours. I never do it with out the v/c's & tensioner gaskets. 1,800.00 All original equipment parts.
