Default Tip Chip?

Hello All,

Has anybody used GIAC's Tip Chip? I would especially like to hear from someone who did not do it at the same time they did the ECU.

What do people think of the Tip Chip, is it worth it? Would you buy it again?

I searched the forums and noticed some people encounters issues (such as the tranny going into limp mode, or the TCU causing a 45MPH wobble). Have these issues been corrected? Are there any other ones besides the two I listed?

Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.

Regards,
Gavin

Default I've talked to someone over at GIAC and the tip chip is beneficial even if you don't chip the ECU...

Better, shorter shifts (from 1 sec to .2 seconds). I'm going to tip chip first after break in. Although the tip chip works with other ECU chips, GIAC feels that their tip, ECU chip is the perfect marriage, and frown upon using other ECU chips along with it. I've yet to see a post with someone who's just tip chipp'd, as I would like to get another opinion. I feel the car is fast enough for me at this time, so I'll take it slow and do some other mods first PSK bar. I also feel the PSK would be just fine for this car. Since I drive 70% of the time with the family, I feel the H-Sport bar will be a total waste of my time.does . Tires, already done to Mich. Pilots. Tinting, almost a necessity since it gets a hot in back for the kiddies. I'm looking at 38% which would make it a total 35% with what's on there now. Brakes, maybe DBA rotors w/Mintex reds. That should suffice for now. I'm a MMM'r (mild mod man).

Default Don't waste time - TIP chip immed.

This mod makes the tranny act like it should have from the factory, It's not going to give race shifts but nice smooth quick shifts. The change is very pleasant and it makes the tiptronic mode useful. No more "pre planning" shifts a corner in advance.

Well, That's what I was hoping for. Any better gas mileage because of it?

Default Re: You may consider darker tint

I have 35 all around. Wish I would have gone with 20 on the rear doors and back area.

Default I didn't notice any improvement in fuel econ... but...

I tend to drive in TIP mode these days letting revs get up there. Just do it... you will be happy.

Default Gavin have you chipped your....

Allroad ECU yet ? If you have you may want to do the transmission chip as well.O.CT recommends a TCU upgrade if you go to stage 2 and up. O.CT gets 308 HP from stage 1, 328HP from stage 2. - Bob
