2002 all stock Allroad WA1YD64B82N0399** VIN
Some of you may have read my post about a week ago. Audi service in Sioux Falls could not communicate with the Tiptronic transmission control module (4Z7 927 156 F). New price from Audi is $1,400.
I sent my module to Auto & Truck Electronics of West Palm Beach Fl. (www.autoecu.com) for repair.
Just got word today from them. They, too, cannot communicate with the module. Their diagnosis is loss of software and not a candidate for repair. Just a note to you all- their diagnostic charge was $75.00 including shipping. I view this as reasonable.
But.... do any of you have any potential sources for the module? I have tried a number myself, but to no avail at this point.
It is just hard to get my head around spending $1400 for a board with chips stuck to it.

My audi dealer diagnosed my tip not upshifting in tip as a bad control module. They replaced it, under warranty, but it did not fix the problem.
The one they took out and threw away was fine.
Often, when I think their diagnosis is wrong, I will ask for the old parts back, but this time I forgot...
sorry.

you can compare matching TCU's on VAGCAT.com
the link will get you to an 03 allroad page, just an example....

http://www.vagcat.com/epc/cat/au/A6AR/2003/247/57/3087273/</a

I greatly appreciate all of your responses. Where, specifically, would the stamped codes be found?
In your example, would this VagCat cross the ebay h suffixed module to show compatibility?

Paul, thanks for the link on your page for all the resources available for information and networks.
However, the link for torque converter failures on the 01, 02 model years makes me nervous.
My failure came absolutely out of the blue, their were no misbehavour issues at all.
I just paused to reference their site and the chip upgrade you referenced. This would be good.
