So far spent $350 for new receiver and one tire transmitter for TPMS ($300 option). Now two more sensors need replacing due to battery life at $550 for both. Has anyone come across this issue? I'm fanatic about keeping car maintained and everyting working but I didn't do the work. Any cheaper way to go such as changing the batteries? Part number is 4D0601361B for the stem at $78.82 and 4D0907275A for the sensor/transmitter at $157.98. Do I really need the stem? Car is at 125,000 miles so warranties are long gone.

I keep my cars for around 10 years before I get rid of them. Beyond 100,000 miles with a car I accept minor problems that cost big bucks to fix and aren't required. Since you can check the tires with a cheap hand held pressure guage, why bother? If you ran run flat tires I'd fix it but otherwise I'd learn to live with it.

Is this the 1st sign that one of the batteries in the TPMS is going out? It's occurred on cold mornings at start up. It goes away after a couple of minutes.
