Default took a good drive yesterday (BWW)

Sunday morning also began early. I went wheeling with a local group on a trail called metberry gultch. we had 15 rigs show up. after meeting up we drove to the trail head. 85% of the trail was tame, but that last 15% was pretty intense. it was an out and back trail with a beautiful stop for lunch at the furthest out point. the 2 particularly intense spots were one tight corner that on the way in went down and to the right. the slope was pretty far and if you didnt hit the line right would toss your rig into a big rock next to the door. on the way out I took a line far to the outside to avoid the tippy rock and managed to pick my front right wheel up about 3 feet above the ground before negotiating the turn on the other tires and pulling out of it.

there was also a really steep section of downhill that was on a rock covered by sand. effectively it made it a controlled slide to get down it. heading back up it was the first time I have ever needed to lock my center differential in the rover. I without it locked, I was just spinning my tires.

Overall I was really impressed by the capability of the rover, and I definitely learned a lot about its capabilities yesterday.

here are some pics:

Default it was. super modified would be key.

bigger tires, lockable differentials, and some better clearance would be needed. a stock range rover p38 running on mud terrain tires (stock size) did make it, but he had to be very careful and he did scrape the bottom of his rear bumper a couple of times. I'd worry about the allroads exhaust and large rear overhang.

Default I have to admit, along most of the trail I was evaluating how well the allroad would do.

it would have been OK on most of it, but some sections wouldnt have been so good.
