Default Tools needed to read faults on my allroad

Hi,

I'm wondering which tool I need to read faults. I guess that subject been covered a lot but I cannot find it.

I would like to have the most flexible tool that I can get.

Is there a tool that only read codes?
Is there a tool that you connect to your pc and be able to read and clear codes and modify things?

How does this all works? heard OBD thing but can someone clarify.

Thanks a lot

Nicolas

The only tool worth its salt is the VAG Tool from Ross-tech. Read, clear, perform mods. It's the only one that does it all.

Hi!
I am using this with pleasure.

http://store.ross-tech.com/shop/VCHUC.html

My friend in Japan bought 3rd party's fake profuct made in China, but he had big problem in comunication with his AR, and then finally he failed in 402mod.
So many Japanese guys repurchase Ross-tech genuine cable, after figuring out that the Chinese cheaper fake cable is just a waste.

If you don't have a laptop, you can use VAD Mobile and a Palm device. Does the same as the Ross Tech without the need for a computer.

Hi amiram!

This one's price is so reasonable.
But looks Hong Kong product.
Does this works well for 402mod and performs any other changing code or basic setting ... etc?
Any operation manual?
Seems that this one doesn't require laptop so convenient!

Ross-tech sells it for 350$ that seems a bit expensive for a 15$ cable that I might use it 2-3 times a year. I guess there are other cheaper solution like getting a cable (if I understand correctly, a USB cable with audi connector cannot be wire differently?) and get a required software from the net. Does anyone have done something similar?

Also what is a 402mod. I own my all road for about 2 weeks and don't know much about them and previous owner have changed the air suspension to coils and a light is always on int the dashboard in regards of the height adjustment error, is that something that I can have removed by those tools?

I need more feedbacks
Thanks all

The 402 is a way to "trick" the AIR SUSPENSION into making each level lower. Good way to wear out suspension parts and tires quicker.

If you have coil-overs, you cannot do a 402.

Search for Coil-Over conversions and there should be a description of how to eliminate that light.
