The last few mornings my transmission is working well in reverse. When I select R, I can feel it engage. It goes in reverse OK under idle. However, as soon as I give it some gas, it's like I am in nuetral. It seems to get better as the tempurature warms up (i.e. engine/tranny temp). No problems whatsoever in drive.
I have been having reccurring 17125 (torque converter suck off code, i.e. bad seal) for some time now, but it hasn't seemed to affect the drivability. This new problem came on all of a sudden.
Any ideas what woul dcause this? Torque converter? Contaminated or low fluid? Tranny problem?
Ugh....

I had to replace both the tranny and torque converter. Cost was 2995.00 for both with a 3 year 36K mi. warranty.
A used tranny/tq from Shokan was approx (including shipping) $2300.00. I figured after adding in filters and tranny fluid It would have cost 2600.00 to DIY.
I also checked with L10 and it would have cost 5000.00 for them to do the job with all their enhancements.
The upside of this, tip lag is all but gone now.

I am still working with AoA to try and get this covered, at least partially. I had complained about tranny issues prior to warranty expiration, but they couldn't find anything...so they said. I am going to exhaust that avenue before dropping the big $$$.
Hopefully, I can get away with only a torqu converter.

tranny and will cause problems if not fixed. I waited and lost reverse. I brought the car back and the tranny shop did diags and reverse was shot. I could have had them just fix reverse, but for a few dollars more they poped in a rebuilt they had on the shelf. For that I got a 3 year 36k warranty. I thought it was a good deal.
