For the last year I've been hearing (and feeling) a vibration at speeds from 23-45mph. After 7 months I finally got the dealership to acknowledge they could hear and feel it as well. They just recently changed the transmission and although it seems to be improved the same noise and vibration are still there. AOA now says it's a known issue with the allroad transmission but this is the first I've heard of it. Has anyone had the same issue or have heard of it? Also does anyone have experience with either a buyback or replacement by Audi?

How incriminating... =) Did they put anything in writing? It's annoying to have AoA claim a known issue to one customer, than deny all knowledge of a problem to another.

Try to get something in writing. If there's no TSB, then they're just lying to get you to go away.

It's a tip. I did ask if there was anything in writing and he said there was not which might explain why none of the service techs nor the regional rep were aware of any such issues. I suspected they were just trying to get me to go away but it appears they might offer to repurchase or replace the car. I should know more in about a week.

Hi. Its quite a while later but I was wondering what the resolution to your Audi transmission problem was. I have a 2001 AR with 55k miles on it [recently out of warranty period of course]. Problems with the car and I was informed by the dealership that the transmission had to be replaced. The car has been maintained with all scheduled maintenance, garaged, and highway driven. It seems more than illogical that the transmission should need to be replaced. They are asking that I co-share in the cost. This is a lease situation and the lease is over in June, 2005. Is there something wrong with this picture? What is the story with the AOA????
