Trip to the desert
Recently I got to go to Joshua Tree National Monument, which is in the California desert down by Palm Springs. It was my first real chance at an offroad experience with the allroad. I enjoyed it mightily.

Here is a picture from an area outside the national park. You weren't really allowed to go offroad within the park.

There were times when I wished I had the lower ratio transfer case on my transmission. I got the clutch pretty stinky once or twice doing what seemed like minor boulder scrambling. But overall the car worked great. The suspension settings in auto mode seemed more adaptive than the user manual would have you believe. I swear one time that the car automatically raised to its highest height, even though the manual seems to suggest this is not a possibility.

And this served as a reminder that they don't all come back from the desert. Be sure and bring your Audi. You'll be glad you did.

Re: in name that wreck it is a chrstler lebaron conv i believe
Pretty good guess but if I remember it was Pontiac's version of the Chevy Cavalier, whatever that was called. Maybe a Sunbird? From the lay of the land I surmised it had been caught in a flash flood and deposited in a sandy wash. I hate when that happens.
