Default Tip chip will help the most! ECU chip a little better! With both 80% better but not gone. You still

have some lag when hard braking from speed then hitting the gas! In this situation I put it in Tip and downshift before hitting the gas and there is no lag!

Default I think that's a different issue

Searching the archives indicates that this enable Sport mode and potentially holds first to redline. My 02 already has sport mode. The lag (or latency) is most apparent when starting off from rest or sub 5mph speeds. There's an programmed-in delay in response to sudden accelerator depression. As has been covered over and over, it's not turbo lag, nor is it waiting for the torque converter to hookup. It's been suggested that the lack of throttle response is somehow a safety feature, when in fact it's just the opposite. Audi should at least offer a fix to those who want it. Very early possibly pre-production models apparently were very responsive.

Sure a tip chip may fix it. Will Audi install it at no cost and warranty it? No - therefore it is not a fix.
