Default Turbo "sweating" . . . fix is?

I know, replace it. The complication is she has 106K. Runs strong, no smoke, no loss of power, timing belt was done about 20k ago. So, ignore? Replace with KO4's? Or replace with stock KO3's?

The only "problem" right now is a burned oil odor sometimes.

Oil changes have been religious, and she's a "schaltgetriebe" (6 spd).

I would certainly just deal with it until the engine needs pulled for something else. Unless you're Bob in Boulder pulling an engine is a major undertaking. :-)

I'm facing the same dilemma with a vdub 02 passat. Anyway I decided to rebuild the old K03s - many would probably frown, oh well!

IMO: I dont care about power but do care about driveability. If you like the the sounds of crap turbo's w/ the possiblity of things happening in the future, then keep 'em. Although I'm not sure where your going to find cheap K03's. Your best path is to upgrade to K04's.
